Awls
These awls are designed for use in basket weaving. Awls are used to open up spaces in the weave for passing material through, as well as piercing material.
Each awl is hand forged and made in small batches. Scroll through to compare handle shapes and sizes. Each awl handle is designed with comfortability, weight, function and beauty in mind. The width written measures the awl at its widest part of the taper before the handle starts, and the length measures the entire length of the tool from the top of the handle to the end tip. Note that awl designs number 11 & 12 have the largest width of 1/4" instead of 3/16" and are priced accordingly. Tool design numbers are ordered with # 1 being the shortest length going all the way up to # 12 as the longest in length. These awls may also be used for leather working to open up holes, but the tips are not sharp enough for piercing through leather.
Awls are hand forged and naturally finished with 100% beeswax to prevent rusting and provide resistance to moisture.
