A packing tool is a basket weaving tool used for packing the rows of weaving tight, as well as for opening up spaces in the weave. This packing tool’s working end has a bent tip with a tapered pointed shape, which makes it especially useful for working with fine material and opening up tight spaces in the weave. The width on this tool measures the widest part of the working end tip of the tool. The width of these packing tools is 2/16” and it tapers down to less than 1/16th at its point. It is bent, or angled, to provide leverage in opening the weave and packing comfortably.
The length of the tool is the measurement of the tool from end to end, or from the top of the handle to the end of the working tip. The length of this packing tool is approximaly 5.5 inches. All packing tools have nearly the same handle design, yet because all are hand forged, none are exactly identical.
All packing tools are hand forged and naturally finished with 100% beeswax to prevent rusting and provide resistance to moisture.
