Bodkin

from $58.00

Bodkins are used in wicker or willow basket weaving for opening up spaces between rods to insert side stakes or handles, as well as piercing rods when weaving bases.

These tools are made in small batches of about a dozen with each tool being unique. Therefore, each bodkin has its own unique handle shape, length and width. They have been designed to fit in the hand comfortably and for function and beauty. The width is the measurement at the widest part of the tapered bodkin before the handle. The length is the bodkin’s full length measured from the top of the handle to the end tip of the bodkin point. Scroll through each design to see what size and handle design suits your needs and fancy.

Note that bodkin designs number 1, 2 & 3 have the largest width of 1/2" and 7/16” while the rest of the bodkins are 3/8" wide. They are priced accordingly. The 3/8" width is a good medium size for willow weaving.

All bodkins are hand forged and naturally finished with 100% beeswax to prevent rusting and provide resistance to moisture.
