A packing tool is a basket weaving tool used for packing the rows of weaving tight, as well as for opening up spaces in the weave, especially when lashing the rim. This packing tool has a flared and flat ¼ inch wide working end designed for working with ¼ inch basket weaving material or larger. The bent tip gives more leverage when packing.
The length of the tool is the measurement of the tool from end to end, or from the top of the handle to the end of the working tip. The length of these packing tools is approximately 5.5 inches. All packing tools have nearly the same handle design, yet because all are hand forged, none are exactly identical.
All packing tools are hand forged and naturally finished with 100% beeswax to prevent rusting and provide resistance to moisture.
